Some of our road conditions

Laurent has been pretty shocked by the kinds of wheather we drive in; snow, ice, fog, heavy rain.... I have only been worried a couple of times. Driving home from Memphis a couple weeks ago was one of those times. We were driving through southern Missouri after the ice storm that had passed through. It wasn't the roads that were scary. They were clear and dry, but everywhere else there was about two inches of ice. There were more power lines down then I had ever seen. Cops were sitting at the ends of freeway exits to let you know that whole towns were without electricity. This means no food, no bathrooms, no gas for miles. This is all okay for awhile, but getting gas became an emergency situation. We made it to a town that looked decent sized on the map and asked around for an open gas station. They informed us of one down the street. When we arrived the line was down the street and by the corner of the end of the next street. As we got in line our gas light came on. We spent the next hour in line waiting to fill up as people filled up every gas can they owned, cut in front of us and slid around in the ice. The gas was expensive....but so precious! Needless to say we praised the Lord that we didn't run out of gas on the highway or in a town where there were no hotels with power.
